Emu Plaza
Since the demolition of the Old Emu Brewery building
in the early 1990s the site on the corner of Mounts Bay Rd
and Spring St has remained a derelict space.
This project aims to reconnect the site to its surrounding
urban context through the generation of pedestrian flow through
a series of plaza levels which combine a large cultural precinct
with retail spaces and private offices. The plaza and buildings
have been arranged to take advantage of the key pathways that connect
the site to the rest of the city while also allowing for good ventilation,
daylighting and views. The design takes influence from the geographical
heritage of the area which has particular relevance to Perth as a city that
has made many changes to its original landscape and waterfront.
